The Mexican government says it has formally adhered to the World Labor Organization’s Convention 189 on the rights of home workers.
The Domestic Workers Convention sets out guidelines for guaranteeing that maids are secure from exploitation, violence or unsafe working situations. The International Relatives Division mentioned Mexico formally joined the settlement Friday.
Domestic workers in Mexico frequently undergo low pay, long hours and no formal advantages in Mexico, situations that had been depicted within the 2018 Oscar-a success movie “Roma.”
Most maids and other home workers work on the foundation of informal agreements, with out formal contracts. There has been a push to accept other folks that rent them to register them as workers.
